In both Star Control and Star Control II/Ur-Quan Masters, each ship has a certain intrinsic value within the context of the game. The value at the Earth Starbase is the amount of RUs gained by scrapping the ship, and also the cost to build the ship, assuming an alliance exists with that race. This value is also a hundred times greater than the point value in Super Melee and eight times greater than the debris scavenged. The two exceptions to this rule are the Slylandro Probe, which is 17 points in Super Melee, but yields 550 RU in scavenged debris, and the Melnorme Trader, which is 18 points in Super Melee, but yields 450 RU in scavenged debris.
