They have vast supplies of gold, they ask the Captain for death rays in exchange for gold and he is able provide them with a nuke, which causes them to celebrate in the streets.

The '''Menkmack''' are a fast-talking species known for being friendly, open, and completely untrustworthy. Although their habit of swindling every sapient being they come across would make them natural candidates for extermination by the [[Scryve]], when the ruling Scryve Legate who discovered them found their antics amusing, they were incorporated into the [[Scryve Empire|Empire]] as jesters, and made to perform for their survival.

In recent years they have become nomadic, seemingly abandoning their traditional territory and moving about the stars. It is unknown where their original homeworld was, but one of the first New Menkmacks was claimed to be Theta Fang VI.

The Menkmack evolved from sea turtle-like creatures on the planet Menkmack (now known as Old Menkmack). Their early society was disorganized and violent, random stabbings were a form of entertainment. Eventually, the Menkmack were able create a civilization, but not long after inventing writing, they invented forging, bringing about what is known as the Age of Fraud.

Records from said era are obviously unreliable, but it is said that it ended when a Menkmack named Mikemack owned everything on Menkmack. He ushered in the Era of Less Fraud, despite ironically owning so much due to his skill in forgery. He ruled as a "benevolent dictator" for several years, until he was assassinated via stabbing.

This brought about anarchy once again. What followed was the Age of Fraud 2, the Age of Stab-Chaos and eventually, the modern Menkmack civilization. It is worth noting that it is unknown how much of this history is true, due to the pathological lying of the Menkmack.

The Menkmack were made members of the Scryve Empire after they stole a Measured vessel, due to the ruling Legate finding their antics entertaining. Their role is as a Clown/Jester species, with individuals being sold and traded amongst the Scryve. Most of the Menkmack were okay with this arrangement, even despite the fact that the Scryve would occasionally kinetically bombard their weddings and apparently steal pets. Two of the few exceptions were the parents of the mercenary [[Helt Numitor]], who routinely ambushed Scryve ships.

The Menkmack have relatively recently become nomadic, due to having stolen the egg of a moon-sized creature known as The Ancient One. The creature devours the atmosphere of every planet the Menkmack settle on, leading to them eventually giving up on changing the name and settling on calling their home, New New New Whatever Menkmack. The Menkmack wanted to get rid of the egg to stop the slaughter, but they simply could not conceive of giving back something they had taken.

Some Menkmack recently uncovered an enormous supply cache of fake ears. In order to capitalize on this discovery, the Menkmack known as [[Morckbeck]] impersonated a Scryve Legate and tried to give an order that would convince the Drenkend race that they needed to have three ears. The Drenkend however interpreted this as an order to exterminate all non three-eared species. The '''Menkmack''' are a fast-talking species known for being friendly, open, and completely untrustworthy. Although their habit of swindling every sapient being they come across would make them natural candidates for extermination by the [[Scryve]], when the ruling Scryve Legate who discovered them found their antics amusing, they were incorporated into the [[Scryve Empire|Empire]] as jesters, and made to perform for their survival.

In recent years they have become nomadic, seemingly abandoning their traditional territory and moving about the stars.

The Menkmack reproduce in large quantities, their mating involves the female laying her eggs in the sand, as the male crawls to fertilize them.

They are classified by The Measured as a level A7 sentient species.

The Menkmack evolved from sea turtle-like creatures on the planet Menkmack (now known as Old Menkmack). Their early society was disorganized and violent, random stabbings were a form of entertainment. Eventually, the Menkmack were able create a civilization, but not long after inventing writing, they invented forging, bringing about what is known as the Age of Fraud.

Records from said era are obviously unreliable, but it is said that it ended when a Menkmack named Mikemack owned everything on Menkmack. He ushered in the Era of Less Fraud, despite ironically owning so much due to his skill in forgery. He ruled as a "benevolent dictator" for several years, until he was assassinated via stabbing.

This brought about anarchy once again. What followed was the Age of Fraud 2, the Age of Stab-Chaos and eventually, the modern Menkmack civilization. It is worth noting that it is unknown how much of this history is true, due to the pathological lying of the Menkmack.

The Menkmack were made members of the Scryve Empire after they stole a Measured vessel, due to the ruling Legate finding their antics entertaining. Their role is as a Clown/Jester species, with individuals being sold and traded amongst the Scryve. Most of the Menkmack were okay with this arrangement, even despite the fact that the Scryve would occasionally kinetically bombard their weddings and apparently steal pets. Two of the few exceptions were the parents of the mercenary [[Helt Numitor]], who routinely ambushed Scryve ships.

The Menkmack have relatively recently become nomadic, due to having stolen the egg of a moon-sized creature known as The Ancient One. The creature devours the atmosphere of every planet the Menkmack settle on, leading to them eventually giving up on changing the name and settling on calling their home, New New New Whatever Menkmack. The Menkmack wanted to get rid of the egg to stop the slaughter, but they simply could not conceive of giving back something they had taken. It is unknown where their orignal homeworld was, but one of the first New Menkmacks was known to be Theta Fang VI.

Some Menkmack recently uncovered an enormous supply cache of fake ears. In order to capitalize on this discovery, the Menkmack known as [[Morckbeck]] impersonated a Scryve Legate and tried to give an order that would convince the Drenkend race that they needed to have three ears. The Drenkend however interpreted this as an order to exterminate all non three-eared species. The Menkmack, a two-eared species, soon fell victim to this but were able to use some of the fake ears for themselves to stop the Drenkend from attacking them. Set in the year 2088, humanity has discovered it's not alone in the universe. Worse yet, it is catastrophically unprepared to deal with what's out there. In response, Star Control is formed and the player is selected to command the crew of the U.E.S. Vindicator.

Star Control: Origins takes place in a huge living universe just waiting to be explored. Players will find their time split between exploring distant solar systems, landing on exotic planets, navigating hyperspace, and interacting with alien species.

They were self-carnivorous, and used exotic healing techniques to repair the damage they inflicted on themselves. No record of their natural appearance survives, the only record is of the mass of wounds that covered their bodies.

The Amror were an interstellar species native to Theta Najmanowicz A I. Decades ago, when the Amror had only begun the take their first steps into space when strange beings called the [[List of minor species#Harmony|Harmony]] appeared in orbit, and began a slow but relentless attack. Many Amror fled into space, where they were still pursued by the Harmony. Those that fled left several record caches in the Cudgel cluster for any Amror that would follow. But ultimately, only one ship was able to evade them.

Little did the Amror know, these Harmony were fighting machines who rebelled against their creator, a lone madman by the name of Gramuoir Renoot. This brilliant but lonely Amror had created the Harmony to to do errands for him, fight his battles, and provide him with companionship. He was able to escape from his creations in a ship of his own design, and hid on the planet Drypsyn VII. Here he hid in shame for many years, attempting to get help from others such as the [[Menkmack]] to create a device capable of defeating the Harmony and saving his people. Eventually, with the help of the humans, he was able to create a nullifier that rendered most Harmony ships inoperable. Unfortunately he was too late, the Harmony had already wiped out the remaining Amror on his homeworld. Gramuoir vowed to wipe out the Harmony entirely, however it is unknown if the captain allowed him to join their fleet, or finished the job, rendering the Amror extinct.

The Charlox are a tentacled species from the planet Charlox in the Gamma Orchidum System. Years ago, they found a source of energy in their moon, Minio, but in their harvesting of it they shattered the moon. As a result, toxic dust rains on their homeworld, slowly killing off the species. Ten years ago they began construction of a colony ship to settle on the planet Areons or its moon Milos. They sent many of their most gifted citizens, but the ship sadly never made it, they received their last transmission from it within a month. The Charlox had failed to account for radiation protection, but they had no way of gleaming such until the humans arrived. The humans were able to reveal to the Charlox the fate of their colony ship, and provided them with enough Lead to make a protected colony ship. Allowing them to settle on Areons, ensuring the future of their species.

The Foon are a member species of the Syndicate. They have the appearance of fleshy insectoid, speak in the third person. They fly Attack Ships that the other members of the Syndicate occasionally use.

The Halgothi are a pompous species native to planet Halgoth in the Altair system. Biologically, they are a tentacled species with multiple anuses. They have only recently developed space travel, and have a poor understanding of the universe and their place in it. They have kerosene-powered tools and haven't yet left their solar system, yet expect any other aliens to have heard of them, likely due to them believing the universe is only a million miles across and half as wide. Little is known of their early history, besides the fact that their first emperor was an individual named Kob.

One of their attempts to make contact with alien species was broadcasting toothpaste ads by radio waves in a random direction for a few weeks. A few decades ago they sent out their first space probe, coincidentally a species from the same system known as the Hurnians, had sent out a probe at the same time. A nearby Kzanti pirate took advantage of this, scrapping the probes thus leading the Halgothi to believe that the Hurnians were responsible. Thus they spent two decades making another probe, to declare war on the Hurnians. They developed space travel at the cost of most of their planet's metals, thus their war with the Hurnians became one for expansion.

The Harmony are an artificial race of battle machines created by the [[List of minor species#Amror|Amror]] scientist Gramuoir Renoot. They were created to fight his battles, do errands, and provide him with companionship. However they rebelled against their master and eventually wiped out the rest of the Amror race. The Norast are a species of four-eyed, multi-armed aliens who are refugees from further up the Spur, and are fleeing the Outsider Phenomena. Their ancestral homeworld was located far on the other side of the Mid Spur, and was destroyed by a group of aliens called the [[K'past]]. The Norast would discover years later that the K'past were victims themselves, fleeing the Outsider Phenomenon that originated from the Inner-Spur. The whole region was in exodus, fleeing an unknown threat. Aliens swarming over and past each other, fighting over the few habitable planets they could find. The Norast fled as well, as part of a wave of refugees. The Norast in particular found themselves rather well off as refugees. During their exodus, they met a faction known as the [[Liberators]] who would enter into a mutual assistance pact with them.

As of 2088 the Norast have been refugees for generations, and now have a mild temporary presence in the Outer Spur, and claim they have learned of a safe place in its further reaches. They often set up outposts for selling food and fuel, as well as (well-named) devices for regulating the pressure of fuel. As Norast vessels have famously unreliable fuel pressure regulators. One such outpost is on Slatha, in the Proxima Centauri system. Norast have, by necessity, an irregular hierarchy. Norast vessels often spend much time entirely on their own. But when there are enough in an area to require a coordinated effort, an Overseer is chosen to make decisions on behalf of the group. Norast being an older race, have little, see little purpose in generosity, and look down on those who seek help yet have nothing to offer.

Despite most Norast having a lack of desire to enter into galactic affairs, one Overseer sought a minor alliance with Humanity. They claim that the similarly named Clavis Carcerem, an object recovered from the corpse of the space beast known as Hastur, isn't from their world, but is from one much darker. They offered to take it so they may destroy it.

They have an almost angelic crystalline appearance.

The Amror were an interstellar species native to Theta Najmanowicz A I. Decades ago, when the Amror had only begun the take their first steps into space when strange beings called the [[List of minor species#Harmony|Harmony]] appeared in orbit, and began a slow but relentless attack. Many Amror fled into space, where they were still pursued by the Harmony. Those that fled left several record caches in the Cudgel cluster for any Amror that would follow. But ultimately, only one ship was able to evade them.

Little did the Amror know, these Harmony were fighting machines who rebelled against their creator, a lone madman by the name of Gramuoir Renoot. This brilliant but lonely Amror had created the Harmony to to do errands for him, fight his battles, and provide him with companionship. He was able to escape from his creations in a ship of his own design, and hid on the planet Drypsyn VII. Here he hid in shame for many years, attempting to get help from others such as the [[Menkmack]] to create a device capable of defeating the Harmony and saving his people. Eventually, with the help of the humans, he was able to create a nullifier that rendered most Harmony ships inoperable. Unfortunately he was too late, the Harmony had already wiped out the remaining Amror on his homeworld. Gramuoir vowed to wipe out the Harmony entirely, however it is unknown if the captain allowed him to join their fleet, or finished the job, rendering the Amror extinct.

Ten years ago they began construction of a colony ship to settle on the planet Areons or its moon Milos. They sent many of their most gifted citizens, but the ship sadly never made it, they received their last transmission from it within a month. The Charlox had failed to account for radiation protection, but they had no way of gleaming such until the humans arrived. The humans were able to reveal to the Charlox the fate of their colony ship, and provided them with enough Lead to make a protected colony ship. Allowing them to settle on Areons, ensuring the future of their species.

They have only recently developed space travel, and have a poor understanding of the universe and their place in it. They have kerosene-powered tools and haven't yet left their solar system, yet expect any other aliens to have heard of them, likely due to them believing the universe is only a million miles across and half as wide. Little is known of their early history, besides the fact that their first emperor was an individual named Kob.

One of their attempts to make contact with alien species was broadcasting toothpaste ads by radio waves in a random direction for a few weeks. A few decades ago they sent out their first space probe, coincidentally a species from the same system known as the Hurnians, had sent out a probe at the same time. A nearby Kzanti pirate took advantage of this, scrapping the probes thus leading the Halgothi to believe that the Hurnians were responsible. Thus they spent two decades making another probe, to declare war on the Hurnians. They developed space travel at the cost of most of their planet's metals, thus their war with the Hurnians became one for expansion.

A strange race of extradimensional castaways, they have a language that is difficult to translate but has been deciphered by the Tywom who were trying to befriend them. They can be found in the Llvoren and Lynx clusters. They are searching for something known as the Clavis Aureum, said to be a bridge between this dimension and theirs. They claim that the similarly named Clavis Carcerem, an object recovered from the corpse of the space beast known as Hastur, isn't from their world, but is from one much darker. They offered to take it so they may destroy it.

They have an almost angelic crystalline appearance.

The Vokas are a rock-like species from the world of Vokal-Dep, a crystalline world with vast caves. They communicate via vibrations and move by rolling, their diet consists of minerals. They have set up bases on several different mineral-rich worlds, including recreational ones, which they call Voks-plaz. They call non-Vokas races, Voks-non. The Scryve but have no military to speak of, but have technology they calls Voks-tek. They were previously ignored by the Scryve, but they have recently become an issue.

The '''Spathi''' are a race of "meta-mollusks", self-described as possessing the "best qualities of both the clam and the [[Dravatz|Dravatz]]". They have a colorful exoskeleton (possibly adopted by the Spathi due to their desire for safety{{ref|1}}), a single jiggling eye, jointed pinching claws, and a single abalone-like foot, specialized for high-speed locomotion.{{ref|2}} They are the only race whose homeworld does not look like the inside of a spaceship.

The [[The_Safe_Ones|Safe Ones]] claim that the "prognosticators" will lose their tenure, causing the thousands of encrustlings of every one of them to go hungry, because they predicted the [[The_Captain|The Captain]] would arrive 30 years later than he actually did. Fwiffo claims to have been "the youngest child of a family of 18,487" and mentions that being called by name by "the female parent" was a special occasion for him. Fwiffo's independence was not a voluntary choice; his parents merely "pried [him] from the doorjamb, and rolled [him] into the street".

The Spathi have a traditional daily prayer which reflects their general attitude towards life (which they name the "mortal helix"): "..Oh God... please don't let me die today! Tomorrow would be so much better!"

The Spathi seem to have a pre-death ceremony, the ritual of Wezzy-Wezzah. The completion of this short ritual ensures a place in their secure afterlife. A noted attribute of the Spathi's afterworld is the absence of immortal, devouring monsters. However, the ritual of Wezzy-Wezzah is invalid unless performed on the moon of Spathiwa, or so [[Fwiffo|Fwiffo]] claims — it is a possibility that the whole ritual is made up in order to convince [[The_Captain|The Captain]] to take him home.

The Spathi evolved on the lone planet in Epsilon Gruis I; their name for their star is [[Yuffo|Yuffo]] and the planet, [[Spathiwa|Spathiwa]]. About 400 years before the events of [[Star_Control_II|Star Control II]], when their civilization was still at a Bronze Age level, their home planet has been beleaguered by a race of ravenous creatures called the [[Evil_Ones|Evil Ones]] who enjoyed eating Spathi, accelerating the advancement of their culture greatly — in less than a century, they had reached the Space Age, and finally took refuge from the Evil Ones on the Moon.

When the Spathi first encountered the [[Ur-Quan_Kzer-Za|Ur-Quan Kzer-Za]], they wanted to warn them about the peril of the Evil Ones. However, the Ur-Quan broadcasted their usual message, throwing the Spathi Captain into an intense state of panic. In this state of panic, he uttered what happened to be [[The_Words|The Words]], causing the entire Ur-Quan fleet to stop in space and explain their reasons — though the Spathi didn't understand a word, being hidden under their shells the whole time. After six hours of combat, they surrendered to the [[Ur-Quan_Kzer-Za|Ur-Quan Kzer-Za]], who proceeded toward the Spathi temporary homeworld, [[Epsilon_Gruis_I-A|Epsilon Gruis I-A]]. They blasted parts of the moon into radioactive dust, and then invited the [[The_Safe_Ones|Safe Ones]] aboard the command chamber of Lord 1's Dreadnought, where they were offered the same choice given to each race, as dictated by the [[Path_of_Now_and_Forever|Path of Now and Forever]]: be a [[Fallow_Slave|Fallow Slave]] (and thus send back a white rod) or [[Battle_Thrall|Battle Thrall]] (sending back a black rod). The Spathi actually chose to be fallow slaves, being rather fond of the idea of being forever protected by an impenetrable [[Slave_Shield|Slave Shield]]. However, the Ur-Quan's [[Umgah|Umgah]] servant who was to notify the Ur-Quan of the Spathi's choice mischievously switched the color of the rod. The Spathi attempted to rectify this, but the Ur-Quan would hear none of it - they would be Battle Thralls forever.

According to them, the Spathi attempted to avoid combat as much as possible, only to receive three violent reprimands from the Ur-Quan, "each more strident than the last." When the Spathi learned that they were on the verge of being exterminated outright for their repeated disobedience, they set about their duties as battle thralls "with renewed vigor."
