The Scryve are powerful six limbed beings, and the dominant species in this part of the Milky Way galaxy. And for some distance beyond, though none of the other known species are sure of the extents of their Empire, or even its duration. What is known is that for at least the past ten thousand years or so, the Scryve have been the major force in the area, sweeping up other alien species into their Empire willingly or not.

Current evidence suggests the Scryve Empire is beginning to fray at the edges. Various branches of it seem unsure what the others are doing, and their command over their ward species is not as irontight as their overbearing language might suggest. Dominant in this sector of space, the Scryve have a wide arsenal of ships at their disposal.
The Scryve have the unique trait of being biologically immortal, they are incapable of dying from old age.

}}The Scryve are four legged, two-armed synapsids (creatures with both reptilian and mammalian traits). They are commonly described as "centaurs" due to this appearance. They are at least partially herbivorous, as they are known to enjoy kelp and were capable of impersonating herding animals for an extended period of time.

The Scryve have the unique trait of being biologically immortal, they are incapable of dying from old age. However, this is not a natural adaptation, the Scryve achieved this with their genetic engineering skills. It also came with a substantial drawback, the Scryve were no longer able to reproduce. The Scryve did this as they believed they were perfect and wanted to halt the process of evolution.{{SectionTemplate
Weak and poorly armed, the Probe is intended to alert other Scryve ships the location of other aliens, rather than engage them directly. The Scryve Probe is armed with a Scout Shot and the ability to self destruct which deals large damage to any ships caught in the blast radius.
The Scryve Scout is fast and nimble, as is equipped with a short range Scout Shot and medium range Death Ray, which is a powerful beam weapon that presents the Scout from turning. The low battery pool of the Scryve Ship prevents it from maintaining its Death Ray for long, unlike heavier Scryve ships.

The Chenjesu were a race of silicon-based, crystalline beings native to the Sapphire World of Procyon II. Possessing vast intellects and advanced technology, they were the de facto leaders of the Alliance of Free Stars. Following their surrender to the Hierarchy, they welcomed the Mmrnmhrm to their homeworld to merge into the single Chmmr species.

Physiology and culture
Unlike most other sentients, the crystalline Chenjesu are photo/chemovores existing on electric energy and have neither natural predators nor need for prey. Another distinguishing feature is the electromagnetic energy fields that they naturally produce, which create the characteristic Chenjesu crackling noise from minor corona discharges. However, when experiencing strong emotions, Chenjesu have been known to cause visible and audible electrical breakdowns in air, which often interfere with nearby electronics.1 Along with these innate electric fields, the Chenjesu can produce sustained, controlled electrical discharges.2 They also have highly sensitive, natural HyperWave receptors and transmitters, which gave them the first inkling of the Ur-Quan invasion. While silicon-based, they are not at all like the Taalo — Chenjesu are crystalline rather than rock-like.

Due to their unique niche in their native ecosystem, they are naturally non-hostile, preferring instead to engage their vast intellects in philosophical discussions and other pursuits of knowledge. Their culture's greatest achievement, a philosophical text, is The Book of Bzzbezzu Kzaaz. Avid explorers, their star charts of HyperSpace are the standard for Alliance races.

Their technology is electrical and crystalline in nature, similar to their own physiology. Images of the Chenjesu captains during the Ur-Quan Slave War (which the Chenjesu name "the Great Crucible of Sentience") imply that they interface with their equipment through creating controlled electrical discharges. Their starship, the Broodhome, possessed more raw power (and raw material) than any other Alliance ship, even if, in general, it was not the most effective in combat. Some of their technology bears similarities to late Precursor technology (namely the Utwig Bomb).

Their rare physiology, advanced sentience and peculiar evolutionary path leads some to speculate that they are the product of an ancient, peaceful culture. An alternate explanation is that they are mostly software, interacting with their environment through some kind of field manipulation mechanism.3

History and relations with other races
The Chenjesu are one of the oldest of the space-faring races, and so have had interactions with a number of the other alien races in this region of the galaxy. A little less than a thousand years prior to the War, the Chenjesu established amicable relations with the nearby and recently arrived Mmrnmhrm. Part of this relationship was a defensive military alliance that later deflected an initial attack by the Ur-Quan circa 2111. This alliance formed the basis of what became the Alliance of Free Stars.

The Chenjesu have also been knowledgeable about, if not in contact with other, more primitive races. For example, they were aware of the Umgah and the technologically-primitive Ilwrath, and had occasional friendly encounters with the Spathi (while on missions of exploring the coreward regions) prior to these races being subjugated by the Ur-Quan. They also apparently had come into contact with the Zoq-Fot-Pik and the Pkunk, though further relations appear to have been halted by the events of the War. The Yehat and Shofixti joined the Alliance sometime before 2115, but the extent of their contact with the Chenjesu leading up to this is unknown. Most notably, the Chenjesu were the first race to officially contact Humanity.

The Process
After the Sa-Matra was deployed against them by the Ur-Quan, they and the Mmrnmhrm requested to be shielded together on the Chenjesu homeworld. The Ur-Quan permitted this, and once on the planet, the two races began a synthetic hybridization of their species, which they called "The Process". However, the Process was interrupted prematurely by The Captain using the Sun Device, instead resulting in the hybrid race, the Chmmr. It is not known whether any Chenjesu or Mmrnmhrm still remain, especially considering that, as the Chmmr state, "The Process is incomplete".

The reasons for this are fairly clear for the Mmrnmhrm, as that race had lost the ability to reproduce on its own. The motivations of the Chenjesu are still unclear. The Chenjesu likely decided to undergo this transformation because they felt that their culture had become so advanced that it had stagnated entirely, and they hoped that the modification of their species into a trans-Chenjesu synthesis would reinvigorate their society.4 Their motivation also was an attempt to defeat the Ur-Quan. Were it not interrupted by The Captain (or the Kohr-Ah on their Death March), The Process would have created a race with technology powerful enough to single-handedly defeat the Ur-Quan and their Sa-Matra battleship. Even so, the Chmmr are still considered one of the most powerful races in this region of space.

The Spathi are a race of "meta-mollusks", self-described as possessing the "best qualities of both the clam and the Dravatz". They have a colorful exoskeleton (possibly adopted by the Spathi due to their desire for safety1), a single jiggling eye, jointed pinching claws, and a single abalone-like foot, specialized for high-speed locomotion.2 They are the only race whose homeworld does not look like the inside of a spaceship.

According to Fwiffo, the Spathi live in constant fear of an undetectable phantom called the Ultimate Evil, which they are convinced lives just beyond the reaches of their most powerful long-range sensors.

Culture
Societal Structure
Spathi families are very large and the youngsters are called "encrustlings". The Safe Ones claim that the "prognosticators" will lose their tenure, causing the thousands of encrustlings of every one of them to go hungry, because they predicted the The Captain would arrive 30 years later than he actually did. Fwiffo claims to have been "the youngest child of a family of 18,487" and mentions that being called by name by "the female parent" was a special occasion for him. Fwiffo's independence was not a voluntary choice; his parents merely "pried [him] from the doorjamb, and rolled [him] into the street".

Their ruling class is known most often as the Safe Ones, also called the Spathi Ruling Council, the High Spathi Ruling Council, the High Ruling Council of Spathiwa, and the Spathi High Council.

Religion
The Spathi have a traditional daily prayer which reflects their general attitude towards life (which they name the "mortal helix"): "..Oh God... please don't let me die today! Tomorrow would be so much better!"

The Spathi seem to have a pre-death ceremony, the ritual of Wezzy-Wezzah. The completion of this short ritual ensures a place in their secure afterlife. A noted attribute of the Spathi's afterworld is the absence of immortal, devouring monsters. However, the ritual of Wezzy-Wezzah is invalid unless performed on the moon of Spathiwa, or so Fwiffo claims — it is a possibility that the whole ritual is made up in order to convince The Captain to take him home.

Leisure activities
A known leisure activity that the Spathi captains practice is playing a certain video game they recently bought, probably from the Melnorme, a game strikingly similar to Star Control II.

They mention having been bored until they bought the game.

History
The Spathi evolved on the lone planet in Epsilon Gruis I; their name for their star is Yuffo and the planet, Spathiwa. About 400 years before the events of Star Control II, when their civilization was still at a Bronze Age level, their home planet has been beleaguered by a race of ravenous creatures called the Evil Ones who enjoyed eating Spathi, accelerating the advancement of their culture greatly — in less than a century, they had reached the Space Age, and finally took refuge from the Evil Ones on the Moon.

Hierarchy Status
When the Spathi first encountered the Ur-Quan Kzer-Za, they wanted to warn them about the peril of the Evil Ones. However, the Ur-Quan broadcasted their usual message, throwing the Spathi Captain into an intense state of panic. In this state of panic, he uttered what happened to be The Words, causing the entire Ur-Quan fleet to stop in space and explain their reasons — though the Spathi didn't understand a word, being hidden under their shells the whole time. After six hours of combat, they surrendered to the Ur-Quan Kzer-Za, who proceeded toward the Spathi temporary homeworld, Epsilon Gruis I-A. They blasted parts of the moon into radioactive dust, and then invited the Safe Ones aboard the command chamber of Lord 1's Dreadnought, where they were offered the same choice given to each race, as dictated by the Path of Now and Forever: be a Fallow Slave (and thus send back a white rod) or Battle Thrall (sending back a black rod). The Spathi actually chose to be fallow slaves, being rather fond of the idea of being forever protected by an impenetrable Slave Shield. However, the Ur-Quan's Umgah servant who was to notify the Ur-Quan of the Spathi's choice mischievously switched the color of the rod. The Spathi attempted to rectify this, but the Ur-Quan would hear none of it - they would be Battle Thralls forever.

According to them, the Spathi attempted to avoid combat as much as possible, only to receive three violent reprimands from the Ur-Quan, "each more strident than the last." When the Spathi learned that they were on the verge of being exterminated outright for their repeated disobedience, they set about their duties as battle thralls "with renewed vigor."

The Ur-Quan Kzer-Za are one of two subraces of Ur-Quan. They are nearly identical to their Ur-Quan Kohr-Ah brethren, the main difference being that their skin is green rather than black. At least part of their body is covered by a sheath which retracts when the creature experiences intense pain or fear, along with the oozing of their talons. Their race was genetically engineered by the Dnyarri from the main line of the Ur-Quan during the height of the Dnyarri Slave Empire. The Kzer-Za were designed to be the "thinkers," the scientists, technicians, and overseers of the Empire.

The Dnyarri did not name their creation. It was not until after the slave revolt that the Kzer-Za named themselves in honor of the martyred Kzer-Za, who discovered the secret of their freedom.

The Kzer-Za follow the Path of Now and Forever. This doctrine states that they must seek out all sentient life and offer them a choice: imprisonment or enslavement. The Kzer-Za are aware that this way of life may be incorrect and so they willingly participate in the Doctrinal Conflict with the Kohr-Ah.

For several thousand years they have circled the galaxy, enslaving races into their Hierarchy or imprisoning them under slave shields. Even one battle in their long history is an extreme situation in the eyes of a younger race. The Great War that most contemporary races speak of was, to the Kzer-Za, just another of a thousand conquests.

The Ur-Quan Kzer-Za do battle in their Dreadnought starships.

The Deep Child is a specialized, genetically engineered Mycon spore pod. Unlike the typical Mycon, a Deep Child is about 25 meters tall when it hatches from its "egg." The Deep Children aggressively terraform planets for expanding the Mycon's Sphere of Influence. Most of the information on the Deep Children comes from analysis of the Deep Child Egg Case Fragments, the Syreen account of the destruction of Syra, and comments from the Arilou, Druuge, Melnorme, and the Mycon themselves.

A Birthing Fleet, also known as an "implantation fleet", usually accompanies the Deep Child to the intended planet, protecting and assisting it in its inert form. While a Birthing Fleet is present at the attempt to colonize the Organon star system, the Syreen did not mention any unknown alien fleets when Syra was attacked. After the Birthing Fleet launches the spore pod at the planet, the egg case glows white as the Deep Child speeds through the atmosphere, possibly the same thing that the Mycon call spears of light (or "Spears of Light" in the Syreen dialogue). The Deep Child strikes the planet with so much force that solid rock flows like liquid. The egg case that allows the Deep Child to survive the impact is discarded as the Deep Child penetrates through the planet's crust. The Deep Child burrows down to Mohorovichich Discontinuity, the transitional area between the crust and the mantle, hence the name "dwellers in the Mohorovichic."

Once embedded beneath the crust, the Deep Child grows several fibrous tendrils in all directions. These tendrils then thrust upwards, creating huge calderas all across the planet surface. This process can take anywhere from a few months to a full year. From the huge calderas, the planet's atmosphere is filled with clouds of super-heated steam and sulfuric acid. The planetary crust is completely broken apart, and hot magma flows across the surface in large rivers. No longer a vibrant Water World, the new Shattered World is ready for Mycon colonization.

The Mycon Podship is, depending on who you ask, one of the best ships in the game, or one of the worst. Its weapon systems are powerful yet cumbersome, and its ability to regenerate its crew gives it incredible staying power. On the other hand, it is fairly slow and difficult to control, which makes it an easy target for faster ships. The Podship also devotes a considerable amount energy to the life support systems to maintain the Mycon's preferred environment.

Propulsion
The Podship is a bulky, medium speed, slow turning ship with moderate acceleration. It is heavily affected by gravity wells, which can be used to great advantage.

Armament
Primary
The Podship's weapon system is a slow, long-range, semi-sentient ball of plasma, which will relentlessly seek out enemy craft. At close range, this weapon is staggeringly powerful, but as the projectile moves through space, the plasma slowly disperses, reducing its effectiveness. Enemy fire that strikes the plasma will also disperse it and reduce its damage potential.

One notable feature of the Podship is its ability to outrun its own weapons fire. Due to the plasma's low speed, firing while the Podship is at speed stands a good chance of hitting the ship itself. Due to the high amount of damage caused by a "fresh" ball of plasma, this is often fatal to the firing Podship. Make sure to shoot backwards whenever possible to avoid such unpleasantness.

Secondary
The secondary function of the Podship regenerates some of its own crew. Four Mycon are revived in an instant, but the process consumes the Podship's entire combat battery. This sudden expenditure leaves the Podship unable to fire for a while due to the large amount of energy required to launch a plasmoid.

Tactical Overview
Against slower, less maneuverable ships, the common tactic is to get up to speed (a gravity whip will do nicely), fire a couple of shots at close range, then fly away and regenerate any crew lost. Lather, Rinse, and Repeat.

Against reasonably fast and maneuverable ships, there is little that you can do. Zoq-Fot-Pik Stingers, Pkunk Furies and Arilou Lalee'lay Skiffs all hunt Podships for sport. A common game for them is to take down a Podship without firing a shot, instead they lead the homing plasma in such a fashion that it is turned on its owner.

Quick-moving ships also have the option of letting a Podship shoot at them, and then reversing course as the Podship inevitably turns around. The slow-moving Podship will be caught coming straight at them with lowered energy, and it's plasmoids will be easier to avoid because it is turned the wrong way, allowing a devastating strafing attack to occur.

Yehat Terminators and Utwig Juggers can, on the other hand, approach the Podship head-on, raise shields when the predictable plasmoid comes, and discharge their guns when in range.

__NOTOC__

The VUX Intruder is mighty, yet sluggish. The VUX compensate for their limited mobility by deploying biological limpet parasites to slow down enemy vessels. They also possess precise hyperspace instruments which allow the Intruder to warp into TrueSpace and arrive very close to a given target, performing surprise attacks often to devastating effect. The Intruder's stasis-pulse battery has huge capacity but a slow rate of recovery. This ship benefits from a small outline, often making it a difficult target to hit.

Propulsion
The Intruder is slow and unmaneuverable. Fortunately, its rate of acceleration is enough to get some good speed from a gravity whip maneuver. Beyond that, VUX captains depend on their limpet armament to compensate for the Intruder's lack of mobility.

Armament
Primary
Intruders are armed with a powerful gigawatt laser that can slice through the hull of any ship in a matter of moments. The laser's modest range and rapid energy consumption demand accuracy and foresight in order for it to be used effectively, however. This weapon sputters pitifully when fired with a depleted battery.

Secondary
The other weapon carried aboard the Intruder is the "limpet", which launches into space encased within a protective cocoon and propels itself toward an enemy vessel. Upon nearing a target, the cocoon cracks, releasing the limpet to clamp down upon the enemy vessel's hull. While no crew are harmed when a limpet attaches, the combination of inflicted damage and added mass reduces a starship's mobility. Only after battle can a damaged ship remove any offending limpets. The VUX are able to mass-produce and deploy this bio-weapon with ease; the energy requirements of this subsystem are therefore minimal.

Additional
When the Intruder warps into combat, it arrives very close to its opponent. The impact of this varies. An Intruder may surprise and eliminate the enemy almost immediately. In other instances, the VUX's initial facing angle may point directly opposite of its adversary, allowing the enemy an easy escape from the Intruder. Note that the Intruder's warp-in ability is disabled during The Ur-Quan Master's main game and occurs only within the "Super Melee" combat simulator. This often makes an encounter with an Intruder in the single-player campaign a trivial engagement.

Tactical Overview
* The Intruder's characteristic close range arrival can best be taken advantage of against stationary targets. An opposing craft that is already in motion as the Intruder appears will usually escape before the Intruder can take advantage of the situation. A VUX warp-in is most devastating during the first bout of a battle where both ships enter the arena simultaneously and begin combat at a complete stop.

* The Intruder is so slow that chasing after the enemy tends to be futile, even self-destructive. By default, Intruder pilots should instead fly defensively, laying down curtains of limpets in their wake. Warp-in ambushes and gravity whip maneuvers are both big exceptions to this, momentarily enabling effective offense.

* A popular tactic with the Intruder is to gradually coat the enemy ship with so many limpets that they are effectively immobile, then close in from behind and finish them off. A well-executed gravity whip which crosses in front of the target's flight path can greatly assist with this approach.

* Limpets vary in usefulness depending upon opponent. For instance, non-inertial spacecraft (the Skiff, Probe, and blazer form of the Guardian) are much less impeded by limpets than every other ship. A ring of Avatar ZapSats will easily dispatch any number of limpets, if present. Limpets slip right through the shield systems of the Jugger and Terminator, which makes the Intruder a serious threat to both ships.

* Ships with long-range weapons--particularly homing weapons--are the bane of the Intruder, being able to pound the Intruder to scrap metal from far outside the laser's range. An Intruder must either quickly eliminate such enemies at point-blank range or ensnare them with limpets and finish them off.

Minutiae
These are the exact effects an individual limpet has on a ship's mobility when it affixes:1

*Turn delay increases by 1 up to a limit of 255.
*Acceleration delay increases by 1 up to a limit of 255.
*Acceleration increment decreases by 1 down to a limit of 4.
*Top speed = Old top speed * (New acceleration increment / Old acceleration increment).
*If a ship's acceleration increment is already at 4 or less, top speed will be set to 8.

The Thraddash (pronounced /θɹɑˀ'ɖäʃ/) are a race of intellectually challenged barbarians from the Draconis stars.

Physiology and Psychology
The Thraddash look like bipedal, plated, hornless rhinoceroses, with strong muscled arms, a thick, tough skin (encasing a set of smooth innards which are considered tasty by the Ilwrath)1 and a mean temper. The Thraddash talk tough and act even tougher, usually smoking cigars in their cockpits. They have little or no respect for anything aside from force, which they admire greatly. One could say that the Thraddash resemble an alien biker-gang from outer space. As a Melnorme proverb puts it, "To make a Thraddash your friend, kill him — but then of course, he’s dead, so what’s the point?"2

History
Thraddash history has witnessed the rise and fall of 18 different planetary cultures. Each time their culture reached a certain point a new ideology for a more perfect culture arrived, and they fought a bitter war eventually blasting themselves back usually 500 years in development, and started a new culture from scratch.

From their conversations with The Captain, we can glean some of the more interesting aspects of previous Thraddash Cultures.

Culture Two
The earliest Culture mentioned by the Thraddash was Culture Two. Little is known of Culture Two, except that they glorified fortitude and stoic resistance to pain.

Culture Three
Threatened by the virtues extolled by Culture Two, Culture Three demonstrated the dominance of their culture by brutalizing themselves. A common tactic used by Culture Three armies was to position themselves on higher ground, cut off one of their limbs and wave them threateningly at their enemies. This tactic was apparently effective in sapping the morale of their enemies, causing them to turn and flee. As a result of this, the status of Culture Three war veterans was determined by the number of limbs they had remaining. Thraddash captains note that the war parades were much more interesting, since the heroes did not walk, but rolled — "and at a pretty good clip!"

Culture Nine
The most important single artifact common to all Thraddash cultures is the Aqua Helix. Culture Nine was the first (and only) culture to question its significance. Culture Nine considered excessive the amount of blood and passion expended over the artifact. Unfortunately, their complete defeat at the hands of Culture Ten after only two weeks of dominance only reinforced the Thraddash belief in the sanctity of the Aqua Helix.

Culture Twelve
Culture Twelve is the Thraddash example for extreme hostility. It is said that before Culture Twelve's first great battle, Jugkah the Battlemaster accidentally stepped on Gnusko the tactician's foot. This prompted Gnusko to summarily slice Jugkah in half. This rash act, however, spelled doom for Gnusko as Jugkah's troops proceeded to decimate him and his elite guard. As Gnusko's forces were defeated, the late Jugkah's Master Sergeants Muuhd and Pudt got into an argument over the method for Gnusko's execution, on whether to use crucifixion or the more painful "Lead Tattoo" technique. The argument was resolved in a characteristically Thraddash fashion when Pudt and his command slaughtered Muuhd and his 500 troops.

These events, however, led to the end of Culture Twelve. Their original enemy, Yajag, surprised the remnants of Jugkah's army and proceeded to annihilate it, paving the way for the establishment of Culture Thirteen.

Culture Fourteen
Culture Fourteen is the second Culture to question traditional Thraddash values. Shortly after achieving dominance, Culture Fourteen claimed that the Thraddash method of cultural evolution was wrong. They claimed that every inter-Culture conflict set the Thraddash back 500 years. As with Culture Nine, Thraddash tradition again proved itself immune to change as Culture Fourteen was destroyed by Culture Fifteen after a reign of only ten years. Interestingly enough, the violence ensuing from Culture Fourteen's replacement only set the Thraddash back by "two, three hundred years tops", hence disproving Culture Fourteen's main tenet.

Culture Sixteen
Again, little is known of Culture Sixteen, except that they were considered by the Thraddash as "sneaky and deceptive."

Culture Eighteen
Culture Eighteen was the dominant Thraddash culture when the Ur-Quan invaded. Their swift defeat by the Ur-Quan put their superiority into question, and an attempt for a resolution was made by the means of a thermonuclear exchange. The Ur-Quan in orbit around the Thraddash homeworld did not allow such intra-species fighting, and intercepted all of the warheads with their fighter vessels.

The Ur-Quan's intervention, however, only postponed the inevitable. Shortly after the failed thermonuclear weapon exchange, Culture Eighteen's challengers introduced a super-lethal poison into the air and water, ending its reign.

Culture Nineteen
After the poisoning of Culture Eighteen, the Ur-Quan executed all of the emerging Culture's leaders, and arbitrarily assigned leaders to rule over the Thraddash. The Ur-Quan then explained that any further violations of the Slave Laws will be punished by the eradication of the Thraddash species. Thus started Culture Nineteen.

Culture Nineteen elected to become Battle Thralls upon being enslaved by the Ur-Quan. As such, they expected to be part of the Ur-Quan's offensive in our region of space. Their relative military weakness, however, as well as their predisposition to pick fights with other slave races, especially the Umgah and Ilwrath, made the Ur-Quan decide that they would be more of a liability than an asset in the coming battles, and ordered them to "guard the rear."3 However, it does appear that the Alliance was vaguely aware of the Thraddash as the Thraddash Sphere of Influence appears as one of the "Unknown" alien races on the 2133 Alliance Hyperspace star map. The modern Thraddash have improved their Torch ships with an effective Reeunk Afterburner (named after its creator), and are itching to prove their worth to the Ur-Quan.

Culture Nineteen is the Thraddash Culture first encountered by The Captain.

Culture Twenty
:The form and the existence of this culture is based entirely on the player's choices
The Captain, after showing his superior military might to the Thraddash by killing at least 25 of their ships, is recognized by them as their "Great Teacher" and guides the formation of a new Culture.

The player has the following possible choices for this new Culture:
Introduction
First, the player chooses how the Thraddash should greet each ship that responds to their hailing calls.
*Polite: All Thraddash captains will greet with kindness and respect, including whether the other's wife-and-kids equivalent are well.
*Pig latin: All Thraddash captain will greet by speaking pig latin.
*Rhyme: All Thraddash captains will greet with a rhyme of their own composition. Examples are below.
*Like us: The Thraddash captains will change their behavior according to the circumstances, ranging from obsequious to downright hostile.

Name
The next part of setting up a new Thraddash culture is the name. The player has 3 options here:
*Culture 20 is achieved by letting the Thraddash choose their own name.
*The Fat Obstreperous Jerks
*The Glorious Slave Empire of [ The Captain ]
Culture
The final part is how the Thraddash will shape their 20th Culture.
*Contemplative: Contemplating does not suit the Thraddash, and it is hard for them to remain so for even more than one day, and even begin to break out into spots, but stick to it due to their certainty of their Great Teacher's wisdom.
*Friendly: "Treat every new person like they're your best friend"
*Wacky: Send them Monty Python and Marx Brothers videos to watch, and they will eventually discover slapstick comedy, which suits them very well.
*Like us: The Thraddash culture will attempt to model themselves after Human culture — they will try to extract any bit of information they can from anyone they meet, without hesitating to use threats if necessary, and will only attack if their victory is certain.

Future
The Captain's actions determine the fate of the Thraddash. If they are tricked into attacking the Kohr-Ah, they will move towards the area of the Doctrinal Conflict and will lose half of their fleet. The casualties during this campaign will be 60% inflicted by the Kohr-Ah and 40% inflicted by the Ur-Quan, who presumably punish the Thraddash for again disobeying orders. If The Captain gains the respect of the Thraddash by destroying 25 of their ships, they will hail him as a model and will establish a new Culture, the direction of which is left entirely up to The Captain. If the Ilwrath are tricked to attack the Thraddash, then the Ilwrath will move towards Thraddash space, leading to a mutually destructive war that will eliminate both their fleets.

Poetry
After The Captain directed the Thraddash to rhyme in their introductions to alien vessels, Thraddash culture found another channel of expression. The following examples provide an insight into the Thraddash psyche.

:We are the rhyming simons
:blancmange rhymes with orange
:the stars in their courses
:HARG! HARG! HARG!
----
:There once was a Thraddash named Mak-Roni
:whose ship was in total caco-phony
:He got lost in Apodis
:and died in Draconis
:Because all that he ate was baloney!

Ships
The Spathi pilot the very nimble Eluder-class ships.

The legendary Black Spathi Squadron uses a modified Eluder and undertakes daring missions.
Any relations with the Spathi are optional. You can ally with them to gain access to their ships. When the Spathi slave-shielded themselves on Spathiwa, they leave behind the Umgah HyperWave Broadcaster on their moon, along with a note explaining what it is. The Spathi also share somewhat useful and vague information on various topics, such as the new Syreen homeworld and the natural QuasiSpace portal.

Ships
The Spathi pilot the very nimble Eluder-class ships.

The legendary Black Spathi Squadron uses a modified Eluder and undertakes daring missions.
Sources of information
Fwiffo and the Melnorme are the only sources for learning the Spathi homeworld location and the Secret Spathi Cypher necessary to converse with The Safe Ones.
