Epsilon Gruis I-A, the only natural satellite of Spathiwa, is the place where Spathi (and the Safe Ones, their Ruling Council) live during the events of Star Control II, having done so for about 300 years after their homeworld was invaded by the carnivorous Evil Ones.

This Pellucid World, deemed inhospitable, cold and airless by the Spathi, is protected by planetary defense batteries and houses the Umgah Caster. The Spathi confiscated this Caster some time ago after the Umgah had used it in some of their pranks (Jud the Ineffable Vug, Killmaster 18, the Grand Master Planet Eaters and the impersonation of Dogar and Kazon).

Should The Captain eradicate the Evil Ones from the face of Spathiwa, the Spathi refugees return to Spathiwa three months later, abandoning the satellite and leaving behind the Umgah Caster as a present for The Captain.
