Splib is the name of the dog that The Captain may claim, in order to atone for his rudeness with the Utwig on the topic their broken Ultron, to have lost. According to The Captain's story, Splib was killed after running in front of a "rock chipper". All evidence points to the fact that the dog is merely made up, since descriptions of the expedition to Unzervalt do not mention any dogs being brought along and rock chippers, though they can be dangerous, cannot be run in front of — and The Captain's hesitation before mentioning the phrase "rock chipper".
